Getting Started

• Step 1: use the “Available On” option at the top of this page to download and install the game if you haven’t already.
• Now that the downloading is out of the way, start the game up and let’s get to hunting! Just follow the prompts for a bit until the tutorial is finished and meet me on the other side.

Interface

• The main area you’ll be looking at that isn’t the title screen is your Camp. This is where you’ll be able to mess around with your equipment, set up trophies, check your stats, look at achievements, jump into the store to buy more weapons, or check out your map for some good spots to hunt.
• Along the top of the screen, at Camp or on the Map, you’ll see your Cash (general currency), Gold (premium currency), Energy (required for hunts), Level, Experience to the next level, and number of Stars collected (one star per challenge, up to 3 per level)
• Within the Store you’ll find several different categories to browse through: Rifles, Shotguns & Pistols, Bows, Clothes, Boosts, and Currency. The weapons are fairly self-explanatory but clothing is required to unlock new missions in different regions, depending on the item. Boosts, on the other hand, are temporary (and finite) power-ups that you can use to make hunts a little easier. Note that Boosts cost Gold, so try not to go too crazy with them. At least at first.

• When you tap on the map/Play button you’ll see the American Northwest and The North (sounds ominous, right?). Depending on your progress, The North may not be available yet, but once you’ve earned 15 stars in the Northwest it’ll open up.
• You can drag left or right to scroll along the map, with hunts getting more difficult the further to the right you go.
• Orange/gold (it’s hard to be sure what color they were going for) indicates a more regular hunt, while silver is for special hunts that cost a certain amount of Cash to participate in but offer greater rewards.

• You can get a general idea of what each hunt is for by looking at the animal displayed within the icon, although some like the rabbit and the quail will require you to kill 10 or more critters instead of 2 or 3 like with the bigger game.
• Other icons that don’t display animals indicate other kinds of hunts. For example, a watch is the symbol for a timed challenge – a hunt in which you must kill as many animals as possible within the time limit, and heart/lung shots will add more time to the clock.
• Below each hunt icon are stars that indicate how many (if any) challenges have been completed.
• Below the stars, you can see how much energy is required for each hunt.

• Once you tap on a hunt, you’ll get a brief synopsis of what you need to do (i.e. shoot an Elk within a certain time limit, shoot a bear with a specific weapon within a certain time limit, etc.) and what you’ll earn for completing it.
• If a challenge requires a specific weapon you’ll see a small text bubble indicating as much. You can tap the bubble to jump into the shop and buy what you need, tap the Change Gear button at the bottom of the window to equip the required weapon if you already own it, or tap the Back arrow at the top-left to back out and do something else.

Hunting

• Each hunt takes place in a self-contained area with bushes, trees, and other obstacles to try and avoid wasting shots on.
• Swipe the screen to look around, tap the Left or Right arrows to sidle along the scene in their respective directions, tap the Target icon (when available) to look through a weapon’s scope and slide the magnifier tab on the right to adjust the zoom, tap any of the four BUY buttons to purchase a Boost, or if a Boost is already equipped then you can tap to activate it, and of course tap the Fire! button to shoot. There’s also an ammo counter that will appear next to the Fire! button (depending on the weapon) that you can tap to reload. Finally, there’s a timer at the top-right that will show you how long you have left to bag your target.
• When hunting small game you’ll need to keep an eye out for moving bushes, then tap them with a finger (don’t shoot, just tap) in order to flush the little critters out.

• Different areas on the animal will result in different amounts of damage, with lung and heart shots causing the most.
• In the event you find yourself hunting more aggressive animals such as bears, be prepared to play defensively. Once these animals have been alerted to your presence they’ll charge you, and if they get close enough they’ll trigger a sort of mini-game in which you have to dodge or block in order to avoid damage while still trying to shoot them. However, if they take enough damage there’s a good chance they’ll make a break for it.

Tips and tricks

• Try to replay the quick, easy, low energy hunts often in the beginning. It might be a bit dull to shoot the same bear over and over again, but you’re going to need to save up a fair bit of Cash in order to unlock more types of weapons (which will be a requirement for some later hunts).
• Once you beat a hunt you can just keep replaying it, even if you don’t have what you need for the challenge you may have just unlocked. So don’t worry if the second star requires you to use a pistol and you don’t have one. So long as you can complete that first star challenge again you can just keep pulling in money. You won’t earn the same star a second time, but it’s a good way to save up.

• Be sparing with the Boosts. As I’ve mentioned, they’re a finite resource and they cost Gold. So if you need to use them go right ahead, but try to be sparing with them. Especially since some weapons can only be purchased with Gold.
• Try to use Boosts like the X-Ray as a guide. Once you get an idea of where the heart and lungs are on a deer, you should be able to target the same area without Superman eyes and make fairly consistent heart and lung shots.
• Don’t bother with head shots; they don’t seem to do anything significant.
• Watch attacking animals to see what side they’re attacking from, and then dodge in the opposite direction. For example, if a bear raises his left paw that means he’s going to be swiping down and towards the right (your left since he’s facing you). So dodge into the swipe in order to land inside the arc of his swing. It’s pretty much like Infinity Blade, really.

• If you can, try to replay hunts you’ve already completed in order to unlock more challenges and earn more stars. The more stars you earn, the faster you’ll be able to access more areas.
